Born November 1, 1940, Ivan "Boogaloo Joe" Jones was a limber fingered solid funk & groove guitarist who recorded for the Prestige label in the late 60's through mid 70's. His rapidfire picking sound is fully documented in the two volume Fantasy collection "Legends of Acid Jazz". Hot sidemen on his gigs included fellow studio legends like Willis Jackson, Groove Holmes, Houston Person, Bernard Purdie and Rusty Bryant. The acid jazz pioneer is currently retired to his old South New Jersey stomping grounds in the town of Vineland .
