bottom & co.
do a funky thing together
American funk soul band from Nashville. Bottom & Company were signed by producers and songwriters Terry Woodford and Clayton Ivey, who ran a southern A&R office in Muscle Shoals. They were allowed to sign 3 artists per year to Motown and if they didn't like them they would lease them to another record company and give Motown a 2% override. Bottom & Company were one of the acts they did want but as so often happened back in the 1970's, they didn't get behind them. They released one album in 1976. Fred Birdwell (keyboards, vocals) Jesse Boyce (bass, vocals) Freeman Brown (drums, vocals) Richard "Kush" Griffith John Helms (guitar, vocals) Sanchez Harley (tenor sax, vocals) George Woods (trumpet, vocals).
