German jazz drummer (born: February 17, 1942 in Gevelsberg, Germany; died: December 10, 2008 in Pfaffenhofen an der Ilm, Germany). IPI: 00035395967. Weiss worked with Klaus Doldinger 1962-1965 and Erwin Lehn 1967-1968, Friedrich Gulda 1969-1970, as well as accompanying visiting American musicians such as Eddie "Lockjaw" Davis, Mal Waldron, and Booker Ervin. In 1971, he was founder and initiator of the percussion fusion band Niagara in Munich, which was active until 1973. At the same time, he also ran his second fusion project Sunbirds. Weiss stayed active as jazz musician through 5 decades until 2008.
