Das EFX is a hip-hop duo consisting of Andre Weston aka Drayz (born November 2, 1970, in Teaneck, New Jersey) and Willie Hines aka Skoob (born November 27, 1970, in Brooklyn, New York). The two met while attending Virginia State University and formed the group during their college years. Their breakthrough came after placing second in a talent show judged by Parrish Smith of EPMD, who later signed them to the Hit Squad (2) collective. Das EFX gained recognition in the early 1990s for their debut album Dead Serious (1992), which introduced a distinctive lyrical style characterized by rapid delivery and playful word formations like "diggety." The album was commercially successful and went platinum. They followed up with Straight Up Sewaside (1993) and Hold It Down (1995). While initially influential, the widespread imitation of their style by other artists eventually diluted their impact in the mainstream.
