Jurassic 5 was formed in 1994 by members of the L.A. crews Rebels Of Rhythm (2) and Unity Committee who connected through the famous open mic nights at the Good Life Cafe. The group consists of four MCs—Akil, Chali 2NA, Marc 7 and Soup (2)—and two DJ-producers—Cut Chemist and DJ Nu-Mark. Cut Chemist left the group in 2006, and Jurassic 5 broke up the following year. The full group reunited in 2013 and began performing again.

Jurassic 5 is an American alternative hip hop group formed by rappers Charles Stewart (Chali 2na), Dante Givens (Akil), Courtenay Henderson (Soup, also known as Zaakir), and Marc Stuart (Marc 7), along with disc jockeys Mark Potsic (DJ Nu-Mark) and Lucas Macfadden (Cut Chemist). The six-member group originated from the Los Angeles venue Good Life. The group disbanded in 2007 shortly after releasing the album "Feedback", citing musical differences, but reunited for live performances in 2013 and released a new track in 2014.
