Sharon Brown is a singer-songwriter and musician from New York, New York. Brown wrote a song called "The Family Tree" in 1981, Despite receiving club play in the both U.S. and UK, the single was never officially issued. She scored her most successful hit single with her first official release, "I Specialize In Love" in 1982. The song spent three weeks at #2 on the Hot Dance Club Songs chart. To date, it is her only single to make a Billboard chart. Other singles she released in the 1980s include "Love Don't Hurt People", "Programmed Heart", and "I'll Make You Feel Like the First Time." Brown continues to reside in New York City where she works to raise awareness about gang violence. She spreads this message through her writing and recordings. She is also active in prison ministry.
