Adam Hicks (aka DJ Cosm) is the main producer and the DJ for acclaimed hip hop duo Dragon Fli Empire alongside Tarik Robinson (aka Teekay). He was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada and raised primarily in the northwest community of Ranchlands. He fell in love with hip hop music while in elementary school and has prided himself on an almost encyclopedic knowledge of the genre. He has applied this knowledge to a self-taught talent for making hip hop beats and deejaying. He has excelled in each of these fields. As a producer he has made beats for numerous Canadian artists and recorded albums for DFE and Cam the Wiz. As a DJ, he has hosted programs on CJSW for over 20 years, starting with a jazz program before moving into hip hop. He hosts the station’s flagship hip hop show “Mental Illness”, going on for two hours every Sunday afternoon. He has also promoted many underground hip hop shows in Calgary. DJ Cosm's debut solo album, "Time and Space" was released on Makebelieve Records (with distribution from URBNET) in April 2011. He has also release two projects with producer AJV as "Double Agent Media" and a joint album "Dope Fresh" with Infinito 2017 as Éternel Cosmique in 2013. In 2021 he will release his new opus "Natural Within" on Makebelieve, featuring a variety of classic '90s and current indie hip hop talent over his booming beats.
