American jazz guitarist. Played with Bob Brookmeyer, Stanley Turrentine, Jimmy Heath, Charles Mingus, Eddie Gomez, Mel Tormé, Ray Charles, Morgana King, Sarah Vaughan, Tony Bennett and others. Born: June 3, 1944 in Brooklyn, New York City, New York; died May 5, 2023. Wilkins was the son of Jack Rivers (2) and the nephew of James "Texas Jim" Lewis, though he only learned who his biological father was as an adult.
